It had been long overdue for Rajan Tiwari who shot two under par to win Mutzig’s July Mug at Kigali Golf Club on Saturday. The former club captain rallied home a cool 70net after stroking birdies on holes; three and ten.

Tiwari’s victory now makes him the fifth different winner in the top category of the competition after François Rugomboka, Andrew Nkwandi, Marcel Byusa and Jack Kayonga.

In the second competitive category, Richard Gakuba continued his dominance after playing two under.

With two mugs (June and July) under his belt, the handicap 15 golfer whose handicap has now been brought down to 14 is on the verge of becoming the first golfer to win Mutzig’s rolling trophy should he win next month’s mug.

Phillip Jacob (72 net) topped the third competitive category while Uli Winzenick carded 69 net to claim the ladies’ accolade.

In the semi-professional category, Jules Dusabe halted Celestine Habineza’s recent run of form after carding 70net.
The mug attracted 52 golfers despite noticeable absentees like Steven Katwiremu, Marcel Byusa and Jack Kayonga among others.
