OLIVIER Karekezi’s new club Ham Kam is on the brink of relegation from the Norwegian Premier League.

Ham Kam lost a crucial tie against relegation battling rivals Lillestrom 1-2 at home at the weekend to leave them bottom of the table with nine points from 14 matches.

Canadian-born striker Olivier Occean scored a brace for Lillestrom to take them to 15 points. Finland international Juha Pasoja scored Ham Kam’s consolation.

The game ended with 18 players on pitch after four players received marching orders. Lillestrom pair of Karim Essediri and Espen Sogard were sent off after accumulating two yellow cards while Ham Kam‘s captain Markus Ringberg and Vegar Bjerke were red carded after foul play. 

Karekezi, who has made seven appearances for Ham Kam failed to add to his goal tally of one as the visiting team dominated play.

Karekezi scored for Ham Kam in last week’s 2-1 defeat against Rosenberg. The other club battling in the relegation zone is Aalesund. Aalesund who lost to Viking FK1-2 at the weekend have 13 points.

In other weekend results, Stromsgodset hammered Molde 4-0; Bodo/Glimt defeated Lyn Oslo 2-1 while Fredrikstad beat SK Brann 1-0 to go top of the Tippeligaen league table with 29 points.
