LOCAL entrepreneurs are set to have value addition and job creation as part of their success stories if they join Q-NET, a new e-commerce platform where buying and selling of products or services is conducted over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks, the Rwanda Development Board has said.Following Q-NET’s official opening at the Grand Pension plaza building in Kigali on Thursday, Eusebe Muhikira, the acting head of trade and manufacturing at the board said the opening was a milestone for Rwanda and that Rwandans needed to tap into the platform which eases doing business and leads to value addition of products and services."The company’s 15 years of work experience gives us the assurance that they will be able to provide job opportunities for Rwandans,” he said.Krishna Kumar, the Regional Director for QNET Africa Operations said the government made it possible for the firm to set foot here and that they believe, with the support; they have a great opportunity to do business.He added that QNET Rwanda will be the regional hub responsible for all the product deliveries to all the other representatives throughout East Africa.The Asian Direct Selling powerhouse is currently in an aggressive business expansion on the African continent as it looks to tap the continent’s potential."We chose to establish our first African office in Rwanda because the country offers a business-friendly environment, sound infrastructure, and reliable IT platform. We are very impressed with the entrepreneurial spirit of the people here, and we see a bright future for QNET in Rwanda and East Africa,” he said. The company also recently opened its e-store to Rwandans in August.The office in Kigali will also serve as QNET’s regional headquarters for Sub-Saharan Africa and in addition to managing the company’s proprietary e-commerce platform, will act as a customer service centre, an import and distribution hub. It will also provide marketing support and professional training for Independent Representatives, also known as local distributors."We have also consulted with the Ministry of Health and Revenue Authority to ensure that QNET East Africa’s operations comply with all Rwandan regulations.” QNET has been selling a wide range of products in the area of personal care, home care, watches, jewelry, vacations and many others in sub-Saharan Africa for four years already.
