Diaspora meet in Kigali to focus on investment opportunities

Rwandans living in the Diaspora will next week meet in Kigali to forge a linkage between local investors and the Diaspora markets for made in Rwanda products.

Rwandans living in the Diaspora will next week meet in Kigali to forge a linkage between local investors and the Diaspora markets for made in Rwanda products. Dubbed Rwanda day, the forum will pull over 80 Rwanda investors, academicians and friends of Rwanda across the globe. The Rwanda Diaspora global network and Rwanda Private Sector Federation in collaboration with Rwanda Development Board are the organisers of the event.The forum will discuss investment opportunities in priority areas, market penetration, product branding, packaging, and international standards for export industry according to Chantal Umuraza, the executive director general chamber of Industries."This will not only provide a networking linkage but it will also stimulate investments that will fast track economic growth,” Umuraza noted. Jean Nganji the secretary general Rwanda Diaspora global network said that the forum is an opportunity to bring together ideas and knowledge on how Rwandan investments can be improved."We are not only bringing those with money and ready to invest in this country but also those with knowledge and ideas which they can share with our local entrepreneurs,” Nganji revealed. He added that the delegation will also attract Rwandan professors teaching in the Diaspora including Egide Karuranga, professor school of business at Laval University Canada, among others."When we talk about investments, most people think that it should be Kigali, we want to therefore use this forum and discuss how investments can be decentralised across the country.Currently, Rwandan community abroad General Directorate offers  services that include Information on investment opportunities; tax exemption assistance and  facilitation on acquisition of housing facilities among many others.
