WESTERN PROVINCE

RUSIZI — The Community Development Fund (CDF) has built two classroom blocks worth Frw6m at Kanoga Primary School.

The buildings which were built in conjunction with Nyakarenzo Sector residents, were officially unveiled by sector and cell leaders on Friday, July 25.

Out of the Frw6m that was used in the construction, Frw2m was contributed by the area residents, according to Robert Haguma, the area coordinator of CDF.

Haguma explained that the buildings were intended to improve education infrastructure and standards in the sector because there have been few education facilities in the area.

"CDF has the mission of participating in all developmental activities countrywide,” Haguma said.

Valence Tuyishime, Nyakarenzo sector Executive Secretary, hailed CDF for the facilities, saying they would improve the sector in terms of education and infrastructure developments.

He asked the school administration and area residents to properly maintain the new buildings and to fully make use of them by encouraging more parents to take their children to the school.

Residents were further advised to always participate in all government programmes and to form income generating activities that would bail them out of poverty.

The audience was also urged to discard genocide ideology, racial and ethnic divisionism but to promote peace, unity and reconciliation.

Jean Umugeni, one of the parents available said, "We thank CDF and the government for having constructed such a primary school complex and we are sure this would improve education conditions in the region.”
