AS THE ‘NDI UMUNYARWANDA’ campaign continues to gain momentum, students and staff at Kibogora Institute in Nyamasheke District have established a club to help spread the message of unity and reconciliation among fellow students and surrounding communities. The ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’ Club is expected to be a forum for discussion and a channel through which the students will take the lead to encourage honest discussions about the nation’s history as a way of building a nation based on trust.‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’ (which literally means ‘I am Rwandan’) is an initiativethat aims at encouraging Rwandans to openly discuss their history and forge unity as the country looks to a prosperous future. The club is an initiative of students and some staff members at the Nyamasheke based private higher learning  institution.  It is expected to strengthen the ‘Rwandanness and Rwandan spirit’ within  the varsity’s community and people in its surroundings. The club founders believe it will be a medium through which they would convey and strengthen unity and reconciliation between its members  and the entire community.Justin Nshimiyimana, a lecturer, said the club will promote the Rwandan values, thus giving the students a great opportunity to  contribute towards building a strong and viable nation. He said they plan to extend their activities to secondary schools in the area with an aim of fostering unity and reconciliation."We believe this will be a wonderful forum to discuss our contribution  towards building a strong and united nation as well as moving towards a country free from genocide ideology,” Nshimiyimana said.Aloys Twitegure, the club representative, said: "This forum gives us a chance to be more united than ever.”Nyamasheke District mayor Jean Baptiste Habyarimana commended the initiative and encouraged the students to work towards promoting the rationale behind the Ndi Umunyarwanda initiative.
