ATLEAST 90 youth entrepreneurs yesterday completed a two-day intensive business skills training to empower them with basic skills to understand and market their respective business models. The training was part of a competition to award the most innovative youth from the group.
ATLEAST 90 youth entrepreneurs yesterday completed a two-day intensive business skills training to empower them with basic skills to understand and market their respective business models. The training was part of a competition to award the most innovative youth from the group. The training at Rwanda Red Cross headquarters in Kicyiru had participants from different districts in the country. The training was organised by DOT Rwanda in collaboration with Technoserve. DOT Rwanda`s Learning Manager, Maarifa Ndekezi, said the training would improve participant`s capacity to perform better in the competition. "We are optimistic that the training was of great importance given the fact that contestants had the opportunity to gain knowledge of how to articulate their businesses, vision and strengthen their business models,” said Ndekezi. The competition is being organised under the theme Ndi Umunyarwanda, with support from the Ministry of Youth and Information Communication Technology (ICT). The top three finalists will be awarded during the ongoing National Youth Convention at Amahoro National Stadium. The top three finalists will be recognised and they will get an exclusive opportunity to pitch their ideas at the awarding ceremony.Grace Mugabekazi DOT Rwanda`s Fundraising and Development Manager said that the training will also encourage youth to come up with their businesses or business plans.Pauline Kayisire who was one of the participants said that the training will significantly contribute toward grooming competent young entrepreneurs. "With business, there is need to learn from one another because we almost experience similar challenges; and it is actually important that we share these challenges to come up with effective solutions,” he said.
