The tragic death of a 12-year-old in Nyanza District last week has prompted the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) to launch an investigation.
In an interview with The New Times on Monday, August 21, Thierry Murangira, the spokesperson for RIB, confirmed that an ongoing investigation is in progress. However, he did not disclose any details regarding the current findings of the investigation.
The victim, identified as Loic Kalinda Ntwali, was discovered hanging on August 18, in his home located in Busasamana Sector, Nyanza District. Local leaders report that the incident occurred around 6:30 pm.
The executive secretary of Busasamana sector, Egide Bizimana, told the local media that the victim's body was discovered by his mother, hanging from a rope. However, confirming that it was indeed a case of suicide proved challenging, as there was no apparent object that he could have used to hang himself. Bizimana also noted that there were no visible injuries on the body of the deceased.
Meanwhile, Ntwali’s vigil is scheduled for tonight, while his burial will take place on Tuesday, August 22.
