It was all glamour and pomp on Saturday as Thomas Muyombo aka Tom Close and his long term fiancée Ange Tricia Niyonshuti said ‘I do’ in a star-studded ceremony.Members of the Rwandan showbiz industry in solidarity joined the families of the lovely couple as they said their vows at St. Etienne’s Cathedral in Biryogo.Clad in a fitting three-piece suit and a bow tie, Tom Close and his best man Producer Clément Ishimwe, waited anxiously for Tricia to enter before the vows could commence.Donning a shimmering white gown, a beaming Tricia was walked into the church by her father and handed to her man. The couple were all smiles as they went through their vows and signed the marriage certificate with the help of the clergyman.After the church ceremony, Tom Close, 27, drove his bride in a convertible Mercedes Benz through town, where they were greeted by jubilating fans. The beaming couple drove through town to Kacyiru and then Kimironko where they posed for photos before heading to Rusororo where they hosted their guests to a glamorous reception.Tom Close’s wedding will no doubt be among the weddings of the year, having been talked about by many. Close and Tricia were among the most popular couples and many people respect the RnB singer for sticking to his partner and eventually walking her down the aisle.About 2,000 people, mainly members of the music industry as well as workmates and families of both attended the wedding which also featured Tom Close performing his own songs with a backup band.A bevy of local musicians, promoters and producers attended the wedding, notably among the guests was Alex Muyoboke, Tom Close’s former manager as well as France-based Burundian singer Big Fariouz who has a song with him.The wedding was also characterised by performances mainly by Kina Music label members including Knowless, Christopher and Dream Boys.The highlight of the reception is when Tom Close took to the stage to sing a new song ‘Birarangiye’ which he specifically composed for Tricia as well as ‘Mama w'Abana’. It looked like that over the last few months, the singers focus has been composing songs for the love of his life. Journalists and showbiz presenters led by Arthur Nkusi and David  Bayingana paid tribute to the lovebirds and announced that the showbiz media fraternity would give them two cows.The colourful ceremony was crowned by the newlyweds serving a sumptuous cake to their guests. More ceremonies and an after-party followed after the reception. Earlier this month, the two had a civil marriage as well as the traditional ceremony of Gusaba. Tom Close and Tricia had been dating for four years.Congratulations to both.
