Editor,I have done this myself in the schools that I have taught, and my students have gained a lot from the lessons. I believe this all depends on a teacher’s creativity and commitment which most of our teachers lack. The good thing is that we have some people who can always create a difference in the teaching profession. I was recently asked by some school to assist with the recruitment of teachers, and I was shocked at how vague their cover letters were written. You can guess what followed.Anyway, we have a long way to go, but thank God you and I are part and parcel of the Great Trek.Betty M, KigaliReaction to the story, "The magic of functional writing skills”, (Education Times, November 28)
