The 2013/2014 national women’s football league starts today with four-times defending champions AS Kigali hosting new entrants Evening FC in the opening match of the season at stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo, kickoff is 3:30pm.This year’s league is sub-grouped into two pools (A and B) with each group comprising six teams.In Pool A, there is five-time champions AS Kigali, former champions APR, Musanze-based ESIR and three new sides; Evening, Don Bosco gatenga and Freedom. Pool B includes, Kamonyi, Bugesera, les Lionnes, Girls Academy team and Athletico."We have had enough time to prepare for the new season and I think the team is ready for the new campaign. We hope to collect three points in the opening match,” AS Kigali coach Grace Nyinawumuntu told Saturday Sport yesterday.The City of Kigali-sponsored AS Kigali won last season’s league title with unbeaten record after collecting 58 points, 13 points ahead of runners-up, The Winners FC. They won 19 and drew one match (1-1) against Gisozi-based The Winners.
