There has typically been a fine line between what style of clothing is allowed at the home, and what style of clothing is allowed on the streets. This season, that line is all together disregarded. Reminiscent of nighttime pajamas, this season, the stars are boldly stepping into the sunshine of the day in silk matching sets. 

Designers are rolling up their sleeves and getting creative for how to make nightwear, daywear. Italian fashion house Fendi, famous for their exclusive handbags, created a brown, black and white zebra print silk set. The cropped trousers are tapered towards the ankle to give a more fitted look. The box hidden button long sleeve silk top is fused with drama by a bright canary yellow collar. 

Also from Italy, fashion powerhouse Gucci created a stunning muted yellow paisley print silk set. The oversized mid sleevecrew neck top gives a relaxed, holiday feel while the slim cropped trousers demand a more refined look. The dusty rose pink of the print pops from the chocolate brown and mustard yellows of the pattern. 

Thai born designer, Phillip Lim, applauded for his infusion of elegance into street fashion, created a more modern take on the silk set, successfully transferring the style to daywear. He created a navy cropped pant with an abstract marble print. The top, moving away from the long sleeved box style of so many pajamas, features instead a silk sleeveless scoop neck camisole, also with the same abstract design. 

American designer Adam Lippes, who made his first mark on the fashion world working with legendary designer Oscar de la Renta as the global creative director of the brand, infused sophisticated femininity into his silk set. The soft floral print silk trouser sits just at the top of the foot, a bit below the ankle. The stunning silk matching top features a deep V plunge on the front of the piece with an illusion overlay that creates a crew neck look. The unusual design of the top modernises the look and makes it unquestionably wearable for daytime events. 

It is not simply the celebrity scene that is embracing the style – but the scene of enviable women who are considered the style icons of our generation.  Natasha Goldenberg, a stylist and designer herself, was photographed wearing a Prada silk set outside a Dolce&Gabanna fashion catwalk show. She paired with a blue turquoise statement necklace and white turban styled hat. 

As well, British singer Rita Ora wore an Emilio Pucci matching silk patterned set. She paired with vintage sunglasses, and platformed multi-strapped pumps to give it more of an edge. Even singing sensation Rihanna embraced the style with a golden and white silk Acne Studios set. She paired with nude strapped pumps and a thick gold chain necklace. 

The key to wearing the trend is to break a bit from the pajama style. Choose either a cropped tapered trouser or a more fitted top. Always wear with heals to dismiss the bedroom association, and find a statement necklace to grab more attention.
