AMAVUBI STARS Eric Nshimiyimana has backed Bayern Munich and France winger Frank Ribery to win the 2013 Fifa Ballon d’Or for the first time.Nshimiyimana says neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi deserves to win the Ballon D’Or. Ribery won a treble of major trophies with Bayern (Champions League, a Bundesliga title and the German Cup) last season and was named Europe’s best player in August."He is a complete footballer. He creates and scores goals and has achieved a lot already with his club Bayern. He also played a crucial role in France’s qualification to next year’s Fifa World Cup in Brazil,” said the former Amavubi skipper, who carries a vote for being a national team coach. However, Ribery faces stiff competition from Real Madrid’s Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the overwhelming favourite in many people’s eyes. Paris Saint-Germain’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the fourth candidate."Ribery deserves the Ballon d’Or. Ronaldo might deserve it too as he has been playing well, but Ribery has won the treble so he should win it,” noted Nshimiyimana, who is in Nairobi with Amavubi for this year’s Cecafa senior challenge cup.
