South African Pay TV firm GOtv has announced a $125,000 (about Rwf83.8 million) sponsorship for the 2013 Cecafa Challenge Cup, which makes them the official title sponsors of the region’s biggest club football championship.
South African Pay TV firm GOtv has announced a $125,000 (about Rwf83.8 million) sponsorship for the 2013 Cecafa Challenge Cup, which makes them the official title sponsors of the region’s biggest club football championship. "I appreciate the support from GOtv and SuperSport; they have always been there for us and, as Cecafa; we want to assure you we will do everything possible to ensure the tournament is a success,” said Cecafa secretary general Nicholas Musonye.This year’s championships kick off this week in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.The tournament will be played on five grounds in Nairobi, Machakos, Mombasa, Kisumu and Mumias. Musonye, however, urged more sponsors to come on board to ensure the tournament becomes a success.The chairperson of Kenyan football federation, Sam Nyamweya, said, "The biggest sponsors of Kenyan soccer are the spectators and we urge the Kenyan fans to come out in large numbers throughout the tournament”.He added, "We have spread it (the tournament) to many cities so that we give more Kenyans an opportunity to watch other nations play at their backyards.”
