South African rider Dalan Girdlestone yesterday ended a run of melioration in Tour of Rwanda 2013 by winning gold after finishing second and third in 2012 and his rookie year 2011, respectively.

The 24-year-old covered the 804-kilometre tour championship in 20.35.55 seconds to succeed compatriot Darren Li. Rwanda’s Jean B. Nsingiyumva, finished sixth overall, with compatriot Valens Ndayisenga named the most promising rider. The New Times/ John Mbanda.
