Rwanda’s medal hopeful Dieudonne Disi winded up his preparations for the Beijing Olympic Games by finishing fifth in 5000m at the French National Championship event in Paris.

Disi clocked 13:42:53 to finish four places behind Frenchman Nouredine Smail, who won gold in 13:38:22.

"This is a wonderful experience for me because I have managed to improve on my speed and this will help me to stage a better show in the Olympics Games,” Disi told Times Sport Friday night by telephone from Paris.

The 28-year-old long plans to spend the next two weeks doing light training in the high altitude areas of Southern France under the close eye of his trainer Philippe Plancke before heading to Beijing on August 10.
