On Day 38, the work continued to perfect the contestants’ performances for the Saturday and Sunday shows. Kavutha came in to work with the contestants on the song she was in charge of this week. Perfecting ‘You Raise Me Up’ at the start of the lesson, the contestants were improving. Daisy also played her part in the group dynamic, singing without outshining the others. However, the test will be on the stage, if she manages to work with the group- she can be a real powerhouse when she wants. After a short break, class resumed with Kavutha helping the contestants select songs for Sunday. Daisy was certain she was singing Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’, while Amos and Josh were torn between a mash up of Extreme’s ‘More Than Words’ and UB40’s ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’.Hisia had the option of a song that he wrote himself and D-Angelo’s ‘Cruisin’. His dilemma was what song to do when. One common problem is that the contestants are struggling with context of the songs. Coach Kavutha mentioned they need to understand songs before they sing them for better performance. She also cautioned Hope on his diction, which seems to be an issue with his singing. In the afternoon, Principal Eric continued to work on his musical story for the Sunday nomination show. Joining them was the band and their Leader Aaron and they worked closely to fine-tune things.
