Head coach Eric Nshimiyimana believes the Amavubi Stars were good enough for victory over Uganda Cranes on Saturday in an international friendly at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala. The two teams settled for a goalless draw in a match meant to gear them up for the upcoming Cecafa Championship in Kenya in two weeks’ time—they are in the same group along with Sudan and Eritrea. It was a game of two halves with the hosts having a better first half and visitors enjoying the ball possession but failed to find the net after the break."It was a tough game,” he told Supersport.com, adding, "The story has been Uganda beating us all the time in recent times but today we managed to get a draw but we deserved a win because we have managed to stop them and play our game, which is good. We failed to get goals which we are regretting but otherwise we did well.”He added, "For us this has been a very good way to prepare for Cecafa and now we know where we need to improve. "In the first half it was tough but in the second half we came back and showed that we are better”.The former Rwandan international noted, "We were also unlucky because we created many scoring chances. We need more training between now and Cecafa Championship because our striking force needs to score goals.”Nshimiyimana’s team created the more clear scoring chances but Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge could not beat Cranes goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan.
