Dear editor,

The streets in Kigali are filled with scoobies as well known, most of whom are indecently dressed.

The holidays are a time for any school-going children to catch up and make merry. However, this does not mean that it is a guarantee for them to put on provocative and indecent dresses.

These students need to know and learn a new level of self-respect that is depicted through a dress code. One does not necessary have to be indecent to get the attention of the public as most of the young people think.

Instead of roaming the streets aimlessly, holidaymakers can get involved in various activities that will keep them busy.

They can be involved in sports, art and craft projects, community activities that work with the youth and get along cultural centres where they can learn dance and drama.

All these are productive activities that are both educational and self-building. Other than this, they also add value to someone’s CV.

I encourage youth to fully participate in productive activities and not waste all their holiday time on useless things.
