Mukura Victory Sports coach Cedric Kaze was not surprised by his side’s 2-1 win over Turbo King Football League leaders AS Kigali at Stade de Kigali on Tuesday.

He says they fully deserved all three points.

After suffering back-to-back defeats to APR, Rayon Sports and Police, the Huye-based side needed nothing less than victory and will have gained a great deal of confidence from midweek’s game.

Indeed prior to the game, Kaze had said the Huye-based team needed just a win to galvanise its campaign – and a win they got.

"We had lost the last three matches going into Tuesday’s game but deep inside I knew we would get right back on track sooner than later because our performances haven’t been so bad despite disappointing results,” the Burundian tactician told Times Sport.

Kaze’s team started the season strongly, winning three in five but then lost their ties against the league’s top sides – in terms of squad strength and quality of players.

The win against hosts AS Kigali leaves them in ninth place, with 12 points, in the 14-team league table.

Mukura have won four and lost five matches this season.

Kaze noted, "I was confident we would soon get our campaign back on track and think we deserved to win on Tuesday. Those are three very important points for us, and hopefully the trend continues. It is not easy to beat AS Kigali.”

With the league taking a break to allow the national team (Amavubi Stars) time to prepare for this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya, Kaze reckons the timing (of the break) is good for his side.

He says he will use the break to work with his players during training – to fix the loopholes that were identified – in order to be in a better position when the league resumes on December 21.
