The crowd gathered outside, excited to be in the Dome. The show, which had been put together by Muthoni, the Drummer Queen had fans ultra excited. Muthoni had promised the crowd the biggest and baddest concert East Africa had ever seen. From the feel of the rehearsals, it was going to be a spectacular night.Kicking off the show, Mich and Joey introduced the faculty and the judges. Before performances, they spoke about Bior, who was evicted from the Academy last Saturday. Once that was done, Muthoni spoke about the week with the contestants. In her view all of them were superstars in their own right. Principal Eric had nothing but praise for Muthoni’s energy and distinct ability to work with the contestants. To warm up the stage, Muthoni stepped out to perform material from her upcoming album "MDQ”. The Music Director of the week gave a spectacular performance. Kicking off the contestant performances for the night was Nyambura. Dressed in a striped black and red jacket coupled with a green skirt. Performing ‘Magnetic’ by Radio and Weasel, Nyambura had the crowd rocking and dancing with her from the start. She had the crowd clapping along with her by the end of the song and she received a massive round of applause. As Muthoni promised, it would be a wild ride and a fun concert. Judge Hermes loved Nyambura’s control and how she enjoyed herself on stage. Judge Juliana enjoyed the performance immensely. Judge Ian felt that her act was on point. Muthoni and Eric were in unison in their praise for her. Nyambura thanked East Africa for saving her last week.Next up on stage was Kojjo. Performing Chameleone’s ‘ValuValu’, he had the crowd rocking with the first notes. Kojjo was having a bit more fun on stage and really coming out of his shell. The song came to an end and Kojjo received wild applause, girls in the audience calling his name out. Judge Juliana was really impressed with the song. Judge Ian called Kojjo "awesome” for putting on an energetic performance. Next up on the stage were Amos and Josh. The Kenyan duo was doing something outside their comfort zone. Performing ‘Oleku’ by Ice Prince, the duo danced and sang. Switching effortlessly between smooth vocals and strong rap skills, they had the first standing ovation of the evening. Muthoni was ecstatic that the duo stepped up and gave all they had and then some. Judge Ian was categorical that Amos and Josh entertained the audience… but he did not like the fact that they rapped. Next on the stage was Sitenda. Performing ‘Africa Massive’ by Fena, Sitenda came out with all her guns blazing. Sitenda had clearly learned a lot from the week on probation. After some loud applause from the crowd, Fena felt Sitenda gave the song life and brought charisma to the stage. Hermes’ take was that although Sitenda came out of her shell his opinion was that her vocal performance was not up to scratch.Next up on stage was Fess. A darling of the fans, his act was following some powerful performances tonight from Kojjo and Nyambura. Performing ‘Thinking About You’ by Frank Ocean, Fess came out, dressed in a grey jacket, sun glasses, dark pants and a pink shirt. Looking like he just stepped out of a MoTown catalogue tonight, Fess let his falsetto to go crazy and sang his heart out. Switching between falsetto and his regular voice, Fess had the audience applauding after the performance. Judge Ian thought there was just too much falsetto. Principal Eric thought that Fess did quite well. He clearly had a blast on stage. Next on was Patrick. Performing ‘Khona’ by Mafikizolo, he was stirring and precise. Backed by the boys and the Sarakasi Dancers, Patrick let his crazy vocals out of the bag and showed that he was a genuine contender for the competition. As the song came to an end, Patrick received a standing ovation which lasted some minutes. Judge Juliana said Patrick hit the song and she was so pleased that Patrick hammered the performance. Muthoni was over the moon. Patrick let everyone know that this was the performance he enjoyed most. After the break, Phionah took to the stage. Having gone through a painful dental procedure Sunday morning, her song seemed appropriate. Singing ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry, Phionah was a tiger on the stage. She owned the space and let her voice do the talking. Phionah was the picture of control and poise, this was evident that she had this in the bag when she hit the high notes like a true professional. It was no surprise that she too received a standing ovation. Judge Ian was not sure he liked it but he definitely thought it was different. Next, Hisia came out next. Performing ‘Oliver Twist’ by D-Banj, he was backed by Sarakasi dancers. Letting his personality shine through, and throwing in a few dance moves to match, Hisia gave a cool performance. Ian thought that Hisia was just "okay”. After the break, Hope came out to perform for the viewer votes. Performing ‘Missing You (Come Over)’ by Busy Signal, he was psyched up and vibrant. The crowd behind him rather easily and it was obvious that the Burundi contestant was a popular pick. Judge Hermes was disappointed that Hope is still struggling with his confidence. Last up on stage, Daisy came out to perform Alaine’s ‘Without You’. Daisy’s vocals have gotten stronger this week. After a week where she was sick, Daisy was on the up and up again. Dancing and in full control of the stage, Daisy let it all out and did an amazing adlib right at the end. Judge Ian thought that Daisy performed "okay”- he seemed to use this word a lot today. Principal Eric thought that Daisy did well and gave a performance that was excellent. Muthoni DQ agreed that Daisy had a great interaction with the band which is a mark of a superstar. Daisy thanked East Africa and hoped they had fun. After the break, it was time for the verdict. Phionah left for the hospital because of a hurting tooth. The contestants on probation this week are Kenyan duo of Amos and Josh, Fess, Sitenda and Hope.
