NATIONAL volleyball team captain Christopher Mukunzi and right attacker Lawrence Yakana Guma are expected to boost the team’s training ahead of the Zone V championships set for November 26-30 at Amahoro indoor stadium.The two players, who ply their trade in the Algerian first division league, are expected to jet in the country on Wednesday.Yakana, who features for Etoile Sportif de Setif, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Algerian league last season. Mukunzi, who features for El Fanar, spent last season in the Qatari league."For the last three weeks, preparations have been going on pretty well. We are expecting a very competitive Zone V championship which is why we need to train as hard as possible,” head coach Paul Bitok told Times Sport over the weekend. The five-day Zone Five tournament will attract five countries; namely, Burundi, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda and hosts Rwanda. Two best finishers plus Egypt, who are ranked first in Africa, will proceed to the final due either January or February 2014.
