RIGHT GUARDS powered into the semi-finals of the ongoing Zaaffran & Blueberry hotel T20 cricket tournament after beating rivals Indorwa CC in Group A on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket oval. Eric Dusingizimana put up a Man of the Match performance with an unbeaten 52 runs to help Right Guards win their third consecutive game of the tournament. Right Guards spinner Jean Claude Siboniyo said, "We started on a good note after limiting Indorwa to a small score of 110/6 in 15 overs and, thankfully, we managed to build on it very well.” Chasing 110 runs wasn’t a burden for them as the partnership between Dusingizimana and Joshua Mwanja put up 85 runs which saw them reach the target in 11 overs and a loss of just one wicket.  Indorwa captain Mihir Solanki blamed his team’s defeat on poor fielding and batting. Mihir Bhatt was the Indorwa’s top scorer with 30 runs. Earlier in the day, Kerala Hunters CC swept aside Victory CC with 112 runs. Although Ed Pearson (44 runs) and Hussein Byamungu (34 runs) had a good partnership of 96 runs, the other batsmen didn’t put up a good show. Rakesh Nair did the bowling damage after he got a hat trick by bowling out Andre Kayitera, Desire Manirambona and Sam Nkurunziza. Pravith Prasanaraj kept his batting form by scoring 30 runs that helped Kerala win their third game in the preliminaries.  Right Guards and Kerala Hunters lead group A and group B, respectively, with 12 points each. In the last four, Kerala Hunters will face Indorwa, while Right Guards will come up against the winner between Challengers and Kigali CC. In the women’s category, White Clouds CC secured their place in the final after beating Kigali Angels CC by eight wickets on Saturday.
