The examination period has come to a close and the Christmas  long  school holidays are here again. The holidays come with an extra responsibility for parents despite their busy schedules at work to make ends meet. But this should not force parents to abdicate their parental role to relatives and house helps.Parents need to know that they hold the primary responsibility of raising their children into responsible adults in the future. The holidays is an opportunity for parents to groom their children and involve them in constructive work at home. Eating, sleeping and watching Television should not be the holiday time table for children.  Parents should use holidays to bond with children, pray, work, and, play and laugh together as a family.Children also need to work if they are to grow into responsible adults.Parents have a responsibility of not only watching their children grow but also equip them with the necessary skills for a better future. There is no better time for the children to work than during holidays. During this holiday, the children should learn how to do certain activities at home. This includes preparing the food, and cleaning the house which would be of great help to them in the future. When children are given work at home, they learn to respect house helps who do the same work.  Instead of dreading and shunning work, children should be taught by their parents that working is respect. Anyone who does not work is not respected and does not make it in life.Despite the busy schedule, take time to bond with the children and also ensure that they are involved in household chores. Let them appreciate the value of work and in the future they will be responsible citizens.
